Our Tier 1 client, a leading supplier in the design & manufacturing of exterior structural components (plastics/metal), is recruiting for a hands-on, highly motivated, and results-oriented Senior Purchasing Manager – North America to join their team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to manage a team (15 total reports) across North America, strong strategic vision planning and drive cost reduction strategies.
NOTE:
- 10 years of purchasing management experience in the automotive industry
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin
- Must be willing and able to travel internationally, without restrictions, effective on the start date
- 100% onsite in Wixom, MI
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Director of Purchasing and Plant Manager with the development/execution of the corporate purchasing plan
- Ensures policies, procedures, and strategies related to the procurement and sourcing of goods and services are followed. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Actively conduct bidding and assist in negotiations to achieve the best possible price, cost reductions and avoidances as well as service guarantees
- Negotiate, write, and administer contracts for commodities and parts about the business
- Ensuring purchasing requirements and metrics are met at all program milestones and the development and communication of program sourcing strategy
- Purchasing, negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from a global supply base and evaluating supplier quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers utilizing knowledge of various articles of commerce and experience
- Examine bids and makes recommendations
- Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws
- Coach and mentor a team consisting of a Purchasing Manager and 15 Buyers across North America (USA & Mexico). This will include conducting employee review, establishing their goals and objectives and assisting with day-to-day troubleshooting
- Serve as the first point of escalation within the Purchasing department
- Manage an assigned set of commodities
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree, in Supply Chain or Business Administration or relevant work experience
- Minimum 10 years of purchasing management experience in the automotive industry coupled with a minimum of 5 years in a, Tier 1 injection molding high volume automotive, manufacturing environment
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin is required
- Experienced in various ERP/MRP systems and employing Lean/Continuous Improvement methods
- Demonstrated and proven analytical and negotiating skills with the ability to make sound and timely decisions
- Ability to communicate professionally with cross functional teams (Program Management, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain) across all levels of the organization
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory
