Job Description

We are currently recruiting an experienced Electromechanical Test Lab Engineer (Chassis / Body-in-White) to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

  • Onsite
  • Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
  • Support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasions
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Covers the following lab functions: Elastomers, Steering Column and corrosion test labs
  • Fixturing, testing and data collection related to Elastomeric and chassis based vehicle components. Various hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment will be used to meet customer requests
  • Working with customers in defining the test request, obtaining buy in from local management for cost, timing, material and headcount requirements
  • Reporting and communicating of proper information to affected product, chassis or virtual analysis engineers
  • Communicating between customers and local management is critical for developing a testing demand
  • Coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing part changeovers, test setups and fixture fabrication
  • Working collaboratively with the mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams
  • Taking and analyzing test data, compiling report, tracking equipment downtime and analyzing data fidelity

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Material Engineering required from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis, and suspension systems
  • Testing lab experience
  • Knowledge of fixture design and manufacturing processes
  • Data processing
  • Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA
  • Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow-up skills
  • Excellent written and oral skills

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Team Center and NX knowledge
  • Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation
  • MTS software experience
