We are currently recruiting an experienced Electromechanical Test Lab Engineer (Chassis / Body-in-White) to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.
NOTE:
- Onsite
- Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
- Support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasions
- Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Covers the following lab functions: Elastomers, Steering Column and corrosion test labs
- Fixturing, testing and data collection related to Elastomeric and chassis based vehicle components. Various hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment will be used to meet customer requests
- Working with customers in defining the test request, obtaining buy in from local management for cost, timing, material and headcount requirements
- Reporting and communicating of proper information to affected product, chassis or virtual analysis engineers
- Communicating between customers and local management is critical for developing a testing demand
- Coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing part changeovers, test setups and fixture fabrication
- Working collaboratively with the mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams
- Taking and analyzing test data, compiling report, tracking equipment downtime and analyzing data fidelity
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Material Engineering required from an accredited university
- Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis, and suspension systems
- Testing lab experience
- Knowledge of fixture design and manufacturing processes
- Data processing
- Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA
- Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow-up skills
- Excellent written and oral skills
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Team Center and NX knowledge
- Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation
- MTS software experience
