Job Description

On behalf of our Tier 1 automotive manufacturing client we are currently recruiting for an experienced Group Controller to join their team. In this position you will be a key member of the management team driving them forward while providing leadership to employees in the finance department, across multiple locations in Ontario.

NOTE:

  • 100% onsite
  • Must be willing and able to travel across Ontario and to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • A key contributor of the management team, ensure that financial goals and objectives of the company align with operational goals and objectives; highlighting where actual performances vary from planned performance
  • Prepare and present high level reports with the management team; be part of the team developing strategic plans
  • Accountable to lead, manage, support and provide direction to all staff within the department through effective goals/objectives setting, performance monitoring and reviews, communication, and the execution of on-the-job training and development plans
  • Ensure all departmental requirements are met on a timely basis including but not limited to:
    • Strategic planning / annual budget
    • Financial analysis
    • Year-end reporting and audit requirements
    • Month end reporting (internal and corporate)
    • Capital acquisition analysis
    • Weekly payroll
  • Ensures a robust department structure by maintaining effective staffing levels and creating succession plans and related employee development plans to support current and future needs
  • Facilitates effective two-way communication within the accounting department and other company departments
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley policies and requirements
  • Develops and implements new processes and procedures, as needed to support changing business demands

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 15 years accounting experience in a manufacturing setting, 10 plus years as Controller
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to adapt to new situation and pick up new things quickly
  • Demonstrated experience with developing strategies in considering issues and the impact from a business standpoint
  • Proven ability to make key business decisions quickly and take reasonable risk
  • Results oriented; strong drive for success and ability to follow through and meet commitments.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Capable of performing under pressure and with short completion times on projects
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
