Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced Quality Plant Engineering Leader to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

  • Onsite
  • Possible travel to Windsor, ON
  • Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Principle Relationships

  • Daily Operational Production meetings with Quality Plant Engineering Manager and team, control tower to deal with quality issues/production
  • Weekly meetings with FQM manager
  • Weekly meetings with Supplier Quality Development, ENG/CCLP Cross Car Line & Project, MFG/VPE/GAPE to coordinate the progress of the 7 diamonds
  • Convening the site directors/quality managers of the most failing supplier sites
  • Meetings with suppliers

Operational Context

  • Improving the quality level of new and customer vehicles in the context of ever more ambitious quality objectives
  • Respond quickly to meet quality and production requirements
  • Autonomous decision-making (or to lead if necessary) to modify the automotive product or the process to guarantee the quality of the vehicles
  • Support the Quality Plant Engineering Manager to decide to hold vehicles and market vehicles
  • Autonomous in the convocation and animation of suppliers, represents the Company with suppliers
  • Avoid increasing outstanding rework areas (issues on retouching costs and customer delivery time)

Regular Responsibilities

  • Define containment actions to apply for customer protection (including supplier Issues)
  • Perform vehicle issue diagnosis and root cause analysis
  • Ensure that his team carries out the pre-analysis activities on time
  • Risk assessments and lead corrective action plans
  • Guarantee the product–process maturity of the components of his perimeter management of serial life (windows change management)
  • Propose alternative product solutions in case of issues (as shortage) to avoid to stop mass production in the plant
  • Participate in Quality ENG tech clubs
  • Implementation of good ideas and standards (Read Across)
  • Ensure the right application in the plant of the technical requirements and the meta function “métiers” standards of his perimeter
  • Ensure management activities of the team (daily management control meeting)
  • Ensure that the team is working safely
  • Lead quality KPI management to achieve quality objectives, driving improvement/corrective actions and escalation
  • Resolution of systemic/chronic or major quality issues (Top Warranty, Recalls, etc.)
  • Technical support Yard Holds / Product Related Issues (PRI’s) technical referent inside the PRI
  • Set-up / On-going Controls for Process/product Standards for Vehicle & System Functional Objectives (i.e. ADAS, BSR, FEA)
  • Work with and lead in a unionized workforce

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree field
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Supervision of an engineering team to deliver product changes and launches on time
  • Technical experience with propulsion systems
  • Previous experience in the Engineering Department, Vehicle/mechanic Plant or Project team
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions
  • Experienced in Vehicle assembly line processes
  • Issues management and Problem-solving
  • Technical know-how related to these systems: Engine/Transmission/Intake/Exhaust/Cooling/Fuel/HVAC
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal from High-Level Meetings down to the Shop Floor
  • Ability to work off-shift hours as necessary
  • Self-motivated and directed
  • Ability to thrive in a high-intensity environment while working on multiple projects
  • Rigorous and pragmatic

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
  • Green belt
  • World Class Manufacturing experience
