Job Description

Our Tier-1 injection molding client, a leading supplier in the design & manufacturing of exterior structural components, is recruiting for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and maintaining the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) standards (policy/procedures) for an automotive manufacturing facility and adjacent facility while measuring its effectiveness for desired results
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety strategies that promote a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Maintain compliance with MIOSHA, MIEGLE and federal laws
  • Identify employee safety training needs and plan for training and other methods needed to achieve desired results. Facilitate training sessions and secure appropriate training for other trainers
  • Communicate and reinforce EHS standards/policies with safety team members, supervisors, managers, and production employees to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Oversee work activities of safety team members
  • Complete and/or update job hazard assessments and PPE assessments for job tasks
  • Maintain required records and documentation necessary to prove regulatory compliance
  • Maintain site compliance with hazardous waste regulations
  • Participate in ISO 14001 performance and certification process and audits
  • Work with corporate EHS on projects and initiatives
  • Maintain subscription to MIOSHA and MIEGLE Emails
  • Implement and assist with facility security procedures and processes

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment or closely related experience. Preference given to candidates with automotive experience
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to present training information in a professional, clear format in a multi-cultural environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), DOT and OSHA 30-Hour training preferred
