Job Description

Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for a Project Coordinator (Hard Trim Engineer) to join their team as they launch a new facility in Windsor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the design, development, and enhancement of automotive components and systems
  • Ensure the successful design and development of automotive parts that meet performance, quality, and cost objectives
  • Working with other engineering departments and coordinating their specialized contributions to the development of the project
  • Manage new build to print Hard Trim Program to meet all Customer and Company requirements
  • Understand all Customer Engineering requirements and Manufacturing requirements to make sure the customer design can meet all requirements
  • Meet required objectives from initial tool kickoff through production implementation
  • Communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders, including engineering teams, management, and customers
  • Responsible for the engineering, design, development, validation, timing and production release of assigned systems
  • End to end ownership of their components and ensuring they meet vehicle functional objectives
  • Design Verification Plan & Report testing, CAD model management
  • Weight reduction, cost reduction and other efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Communicating technical product status to management
  • Supporting vehicle assembly plants for any product technical issues, support service teams for any field warranty issues and help in root cause analysis of the failures

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of hard trim plastics automotive engineering experience
  • Interior Cockpit knowledge (Hard-trim), Experience with injection molding tooling, fixture, and plastic components preferred
  • Demonstrate effective management including defining project scope, setting timelines, allocating resources, and managing budgets. Ability to prioritize tasks, mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones
  • Experience with OEM or supplier design and release
  • Understanding GD&T and Ability to interpret a 3D CAD model and all related drawings a plus
  • Experience with component builds and execution.
  • Experience with production process feasibility and development including mold flow analysis or other interior component manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of Quality, Safety and Environmental standards (IATF16949 & ISO14001)
  • High level of proficiency in problem solving
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and reliability
  • Demonstrated innovative thinker
