Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for a Compensation and Benefits Specialist to monitor, analyze and ensure compliance with their group benefit, pension, RRSP, compensation and total reward programs throughout their facilities.
NOTE:
- Occasional domestic travel to other facilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and administer a fair, equitable and competitive total compensation and benefits package
- Support creation, implementation and administration of all compensation programs including salary programs (annual salary and labour market surveys)
- Participate in market reviews of benefit plans to ensure competitive package is offered. Support benefit plan design.
- Discuss proposed changes in benefits package with union as required. Manage communication of any changes in benefits with union and non-union employees.
- Manage sign-up process
- Collect hourly pay data to be used during collective bargaining
- Manage Job descriptions
- Maintain performance evaluations, provide analysis on salary grades; ensure salary changes are completed related to promotions and performance reviews
- Ensure that compensation practices comply with current legislation (pay equity, human rights, etc.)
- Work closely with the HRIS Data Analyst on improving benefits/pension audits, identify discrepancies/errors related to eligibility enrollments, termination, waiver of premium benefit plan deductions etc.
- Support annual pension filing
- Administer retirement plans (complete all enrollments and changes as required), set up information sessions for groups as needed, conduct periodic audits regarding contributions and eligibility
- Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues and best practices
- Ensure Total Rewards, Service Awards, Employee Assistance programs and policies are up to date; assist in the implementation of new programs and policies; ensure consistent communication of programs and policies.
- Support the business and HR team members with compensation/benefits/retirement information
- Support Health and Wellness Metrics, programs and quarterly benefit trending reports
- Contribute to Total Rewards projects with research and analysis as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Admin. or Finance preferred
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is required
- CEBS Designation ideal, CHRP is considered an asset
- Experienced in taking benefit packages to market for comparative quotes an asset; knowledge of benefit plan design
- Experience in Pay Equity an asset
- Experience in employee on-boarding
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g. vlookup, macros, IF statements, pivot tables) with a strong analytical ability
- Prior experience participating in process improvement activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with various types of incentives and benefits
- Data analysis, business acumen, relationship management, HR expertise, communication, HR systems, and cultural awareness
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Thorough understanding of local, provincial and federal laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS, payroll, and similar employee management software
