Job Description

An industry-leading Tier-one supplier is looking for a strong Night Shift Superintendent to join their growing team. This position reports to the Molding Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing the night shift (11:00pm - 7:00am) operations and personnel (union and non - union) in production, quality and maintenance to ensure that all customer schedules are met within the established safety, quality and production targets
    • Resolve any concerns or problems of personnel and ensure all employees adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System
    • Provide direction, solve problems, communicate changes and escalates issues as appropriate
  • Oversees and performs the role of Molding Set Up Technician
    • Change molds based on the schedule
    • Operating the injection molding machine, part removal robots, degating robots and the overhead cranes
  • Attend to basic to intermediate level machine and tool maintenance needs to optimize safe and efficient operations
    • Clear and concise communication to day shift maintenance personnel
    • Troubleshooting, Preventative Maintenance (PM), Repair to injection molding machines
    • To maintain, repair: Industrial plastic processing equipment, machine water service system (chillers & tower), compressed air system
    • Troubleshoot and assess mechanical and electrical equipment problems; make recommendations for repairs and implement where feasible
    • Design and fabricate various projects, ie guards, platforms to resolve safety concerns
    • Create and/or execute scheduled equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) per the Preventative Maintenance Management System (Megamation)

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum High school diploma with equivalent work experience. Preference given to candidates with a Post-secondary Education in a related field (Trades, technical college, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Supervisor in an injection molding company required. Preference given to candidates with automotive manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, training, and supervision (of hourly and other supervisors), mechanical aptitude, effective communication
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex performance and discipline issues
  • Demonstrated Injection mold process experience, Scientific mold training an asset
  • Hands on experience with industrial equipment: hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, controls, robotics: preventative maintenance (Megamation an asset), troubleshooting and repair
